Position Summary:
- The position of CAD Engineer Tech I involves work in civil and electrical drafting for construction projects. This position will work in a team environment along with project managers, engineers, designers and field technicians. The tech will assist in preparing OSP construction drawings from sketches, notes, layouts and verbal instructions using as the SpatialNet FM database with AutoCAD 2008 and/or AutoCAD Map as the graphical interface. Position reports directly to the Manager of CAD Engineering.
Primary Responsibilites:
- Responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings using SpatialNet FM with AutoCAD 2008 and/or AutoCAD Map from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering. Drawings include network maps, outside plant design and construction.
- Drafts-Network and OSP engineering design and construction drawings, as-build drawings, route proposals, status maps, monthly updates, presentation maps, and plots for both long haul routes and FTTH.
- Manages assigned projects, alloting-required time to complete tasks and reports progress on a daily basis by maintaining an internet based project status record.
- Maintains CAD programs, files, databases and integrated software system necessary to cross compatibility with numerous mapping programs.
- Preparation of permit drafting.
Education/Training/Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in CAD
- Associate of Applied Science Degree in Design, Drafting or Engineering or 1 year related training or experience
Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:
- Requires proficiency with AutoCAD 2004 or above
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet
- Requires excellent verbal communications skills
- Analytical problem solving skills
- Excellent technical aptitude
- Detail oriented organizational skills, superior time management ability, self motivation
- Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others. Mature, professional attitude.
