Job Title: Underground Bore Rig Equipment Operator
Department: Outside Plant Construction
Reports To: Construction Manager
City: Evansville/Tri-State Area
State: IN
Position Summary:
- Will assist in placing new underground fiber optic facilities and performing
maintenance of existing plant and help restore damaged plant.
Primary Responsibilites:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in operating bore rigs.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with fiber optic cable.
- Must be able to read cad prints and provide accurate underground locates.
- Must have knowledge of utility construction in Metropolitan areas.
- Must be able to work without direct supervision.
- Must be able to operate various equipment including bore rigs, backhoes, trenchers, plows and mini excavators.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a CDL.
Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:
- Has to be capable of working well with others.
- Must be able to think through problems and overcome difficult challenges.
- Must be able to communicate well with people.
Working Conditions:
- Has to be able to work outdoors at all times.
- Must be able to work under inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to work occasionally at night and on the weekends.
- Must be able to work on the road/travel for long periods of time.
- Must provide daily safety and maintenance inspections on all assigned equipment.
- Must provide a safe working environment for all assigned associates.
- Must provide daily production reports and project asbuilts upon completion of projects.
Visual Acuity:
- Normal vision and accommodation.
- Must be able to drive a vehicle, read prints and documents.
- Cannot be color blind.
Physical Demand:
- Walk, run, climb, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
- Must be able to exert 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and /or
- Exert 10 to 15 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to walk and be on your feet all day.
